The Senator of Vermont sat in the Rotunda today as Donald Trump was inaugurated. Some declined attending, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who said, “I don’t celebrate rapists. So no, I’m not going to the inauguration.”
At one point in his speech, Trump said, “I will also sign an executive order to immediately stop all government censorship and bring back free speech to America.”
It’s worth noting that Republicans have wanted government censorship for many years in the form of prohibiting teachers from discussing certain subjects in schools. Trump alluded to this in his speech by saying, “I will also end the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life.”

The camera then cut to the crowd in the Rotunda, most of whom stood up to clap:

Similarly, when most of the room stood as Trump spoke about his intent to immediately “declare a national emergency at our southern border,” Bernie remained seated.
Trump’s declaration will allow the military and the National Guard to be deployed to the border.

The Senator also looked less-than-thrilled as Trump vowed to end the Green New Deal, which Bernie championed:
