7 arrested, Providence nightclub temporarily closed after early morning disturbance
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Broad Street nightclub is temporarily closed after a large disturbance early Sunday morning that ended in the arrest of seven people, according to Providence police.
Police said they responded to Motion Nightclub around 2 a.m. Sunday, where officers attempted to disperse a large group of people causing a disturbance outside the club.
According to police, several individuals became confrontational with the officers, who called for backup. Seven people were arrested on various charges.
The Providence Board of Licenses ordered a temporary closure of the nightclub on Sunday, with official hearings scheduled for later this week.
