Live Updates: Small Plane Crashes Near Washington, D.C.
A small plane crashed in the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday night, Washington’s fire and emergency department said.
All takeoffs and landings were halted at the airport as emergency personnel responded to an “aircraft incident on the airfield,” the airport said in a statement.
Shortly after 9 p.m., the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department said in a social media post that a small aircraft was down in Potomac River near the airport. The emergency service said that boats managed by the fire department were on the scene.
