Luka Doncic just bought $15 million Dallas home before trade: Chandler Parsons
Luka Doncic was in tears after finding out he was being traded to the Lakers, according to former Mavericks player Chandler Parsons.
Adding salt to the wound of the surprising NBA blockbuster that sent Anthony Davis to the Mavericks, Parsons said the 25-year-old had recently closed on a multi-million-dollar house in Dallas.
â[Luka Doncic] just bought a $15 million house, just closed like last week in Dallas,â Parsons said on FanDuelâs âRun it Backâ show Monday. âHe cried when he found out.âÂ
The brutality of the trade sent the ex-NBAer into shock â and he wasnât alone. It prompted a text to Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban.
âI said, âIâm so confused,ââ Parsons said. âHe wrote back, âThat makes two of us.ââ
Parsons, who spent two of his nine NBA seasons with the Mavericks beforeâs Doncic arrived on the scene, noted that the organization is keen on its player relations.
âDallas, of all franchises, they do their due diligence on personality traits, on medical, on friends you hang out with,â Parsons said.
But it appears the diligence may have been what caused a rift with Dallas and Doncic if you believe Parsons.
âThere had been some murmurs about what Luka was doing early on in his career,â Parsons said. âThen obviously with the weight and the off-the-court activities.â
Doncic has certainly gained some weight since entering the league at just 19 years old, but considering he was just three wins away from an NBA title less than a year ago, his weight hasnât seemed to affect his overall play.Â
When a video surfaced last playoffs of Mavericks vice president Michael Finley taking a beer directly out of Doncicâs hands as he celebrated a victory that sent them to the NBA Finals, speculation arose of Dallasâ feelings towards Doncicâs off-court habits.
The Mavericks had âmajor concernsâ about Doncicâs conditioning and lifestyle potentially hindering him from reaching his full potential, according to ESPNâs Tim MacMahon.
Despite the potential concerns about Doncic, Parsons doesnât agree with the trade.
âI find it extremely disrespectful,â Parsons said. âI find it horrific â bad business.â
