One dies in triple shooting in 2700 block of S.W. Burnett of Topeka; man arrested

Topeka police arrested a man Friday in connection with a triple shooting that left one person dead about 7:30 a.m. that day in the 2700 block of S.W. Burnett Road.

The names, genders and ages of the three victims weren’t being made public.

Devin M. Miller, 29, of Topeka, was arrested in connection with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery, said Lt. Ed Stanley of the Topeka Police Department.

Friday’s homicide was Topeka’s first this year, he said.

Police were continuing to investigate the circumstances of the triple shooting, for which the homicide victim was pronounced deceased at the scene while the other two victims were take to a Topeka hospital, Stanley said.

Miller was booked at 2 p.m. Friday into the Shawnee County Jail, where records said he was being without bond.

Formal charges hadn’t been filed.
