Walgreens robbed of drugs at gunpoint in Rochester: Police seek suspect

ROCHESTER — Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man involved in an armed robbery early Thursday at Walgreens pharmacy.

Police Capt. Jeremy Aucoin said no one was injured during the incident. Police provided surveillance images from the pharmacy and hope someone can help identify the suspect.

Rochester officers responded to Walgreens for a report of the pharmacy being robbed at gunpoint at approximately 3:22 a.m. The pharmacy at 104 South Main St. is open 24 hours a day.

Aucoin said it was reported a male handed the pharmacist a note claiming to have a firearm and demanding prescription drugs.

“The male brandished a portion of the firearm during the incident,” Aucoin said. “The male was able to get away, prior to police arrival, with an undisclosed amount of prescription drugs.”

The man was described as leaving the store and heading in the direction of Winter Street. It is believed he may still be armed, police said. Rochester police deployed their K-9 (dog) team to search for the suspect, who was not located.

“It’s possible the suspect left the area in a vehicle that was parked nearby,” said Aucoin. “There was a vehicle parked in the area during this time described as a white SUV-style vehicle. It is unknown at this time if there is any correlation to this vehicle being involved with the incident.”

The suspect was described as a Black male, 6 feet tall, average build, wearing a black face mask, a black puffy jacket with hood, black jean-style pants, black hat, dark shoes and wearing work gloves.

Rochester police are asking anyone who may have information to call the department at 603-330-7128. Tips can be reported anonymously by calling the Rochester Crime Line at 603-335-6500. Cash rewards are offered for information leading to an arrest.
