Kristen Bell, Leighton Meester do ‘Gossip Girl’ skit at SAG Awards 2025
Xoxo, Gossip Girl.
SAG Awards 2025 host Kristen Bell revived her role as narrator of the beloved teen drama series for a hilarious skit that also featured her former co-star, Leighton Meester.
During Sundayâs award show, Bellâs âGossip Girlâ voice came over the loudspeaker and said, âHey everyone, Gossip Girl here. One of my sources, Lainey86, sends me this: Spotted, at table 8, Jeff Goldblum has a wicked appetite and a peek behind the curtain reveals he likes his green eggs with ham.â
The âWickedâ star, 72, was shown in the audience looking confused over Bellâs comments.
âAnd look who it is, not-so-lonely boy TimothĂ©e Chalamet sitting next to a hot steak, medium rare, au poivre, with a side of broccoli,â Bell continued, as âThe Complete Unknownâ actor, 29, smirked from his seat.
The camera then cut to Bell reading the jokes off her phone while sitting in the audience next to Meester, 38.
âLeighton, none of this is gossip,â Bell told Meester. âItâs just all about food.â
âSorry, Iâm just really hungry,â Meester responded, as she nervously ate a piece of bread.
âThe Popes in âConclaveâ were better at gossiping than us,â Bell joked. âI think we should pass the torch.â
âAmen,â Meester agreed.
Bell voiced Gossip Girl for all six seasons of the show that aired from 2007 to 2012, while Meester starred as Blair Waldorf alongside Blake Lively, Ed Westwick, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen and Kelly Rutherford.
In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Meester spoke about how âGossip Girlâ is still so popular with fans today.
âNow people are like, âItâs vintage,ââ she said. âOr sometimes Iâm like, âYou werenât born yet when we started.â Thereâs a lot of that. Or even when we wrapped. Thereâs people who are just discovering it.â
âI do think itâs kind of incredible because of a time and place,â she continued. âThere was no social media. I donât even think it was happening â there was no such thing as that when we started. I think people are very nostalgic for that kind of thing because itâs just comfort for people. Whether theyâve seen it once or they want to try it for the first time.â
Since 2014, Meester has been married to Bellâs âNobody Wants Thisâ co-star Adam Brody.
Netflix recently announced that Meester landed a guest role in the second season of the comedy series. Sheâs playing Bellâs character Joanneâs âmiddle school nemesisâ who she crosses paths with again as an adult.
âShe will be there,â Bell said about Meester joining the show in a red carpet interview at the SAG Awards. âWe are very excited.â
