UK weather: is the recent warm spell over?
No doubt many were hoping the warm and sunny weather would last into the weekend.
Unfortunately a change is arriving at just the wrong time with Friday seeing a strong southerly wind push warmer air into Scotland. With more cloud elsewhere – and some rain – temperatures will drop from Thursday’s high of 21.3C recorded at Northolt in London and Chertsey in Surrey.
Into the weekend, an area of low pressure is moving up from Portugal towards the UK. On Saturday rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland will be followed by sunshine and showers in England and Wales with the chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures will be lower but winds will be lighter.
On Sunday, although there will be a lot of cloud, there should be less rain with temperatures to drop to become closer to the average for late March, around 10-13C.
