Stony Brook house for sale once owned by Three Village Inn innkeepers

Once owned by innkeepers Monda and Nelson Roberts, who ran the Three Village Inn, a white-sided house on Stony Brook’s Lilac Drive is on the market again.

The six-bedroom home with three full and two half-bathrooms is listed for nearly $1.4 million. Property records confirm the Roberts family owned the home from 1952 to 1998.

“It’s an interesting house for people who love a historic house,” said listing agent Miriam Ainbinder, of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty. “It’s still got original plaster walls.”

The house sits on a 0.58-acre parcel within the Three Village Central School District. Annual taxes on the property total $23,180.

“From here you can actually walk down on sidewalks into the village,” said Ainbinder. “There are restaurants and stores, and there’s a yacht club there.”

Ainbinder described a house that represents a fusion of traditional and modern elements. The home heating system runs on natural gas, and there is central air conditioning. On the first level, there are a front-to-back foyer with 12-foot ceilings, a living room with a fireplace and a dining room with two built-in corner China cabinets.

“And then from there, we change centuries, and we go into an updated kitchen with cherry cabinetry and an eight-burner Viking stove,” Ainbinder said.

Also on the first floor are two living spaces with their own entrances. An enclosed porch has its own half-bath, closet and exterior door. A room set up as an office has a full bathroom — with a shower, not a tub — an exterior door and two closets, Ainbinder added.

“The downstairs is really beautiful,” she said.

But the second floor has the best water view, she said. The house overlooks West Meadow Creek, which connects to Smithtown Bay. The water view is partially obstructed by a neighbor’s garage, Ainbinder noted.

Outside, the property includes a shed for storage and a kidney-shaped gunite pool with a waterfall and whirlpool spa.
