‘Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black’ Season 2 Officially Confirmed By Netflix
Tyler Perry‘s fevered fanbase received exciting news from Netflix: the streamer disclosed today that Beauty in Black has been granted a two-part Season 2 renewal.
Netflix also released a juicy teaser for the upcoming season along with its announcement.
Season 1, Part 1, follows how the contrasting lives of Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams), a struggling young woman, and Mallory (Crystle Stewart), a successful entrepreneur, ultimately become intertwined in dramatic Perry fashion.
As reported by Deadline, Part 2 has escalated quickly, developing how Kimmie has risen from an obedient sex worker to a relentless force determined to rescue her kidnapped sister from Mallory’s family sex trafficking ring.
Season 1, Part 2 ended with fans begging for more. Perry spoke with Netflix’s Tudum about keeping his audience hanging, saying, “I’m always trying to write these cliffhangers, where people are going, ‘Wait, did you see this? I want people talking about it around the watercooler and on [social media] … and just loving it.”
The show’s blueprint has proven to be successful. Season 1’s breakthrough to the top of the charts saw Part 1 rank No. 1 on Netflix’s top ten list for four weeks and in its second week, No. 1 across 28 countries.
Perry also spoke with Tudum about his excitement for the new season, saying, “We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we’re thrilled to continue Kimmie’s journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellaire family. Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can’t wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold. If you thought Season 1 was a wild ride, you’re not ready for Season 2.”
With this, Perry is setting the stage for more remarkable character development and promises an even more exciting season than its predecessor.
Beauty in Black Season 2 Teaser:
The tension is palpable in the newly released teaser. Kimmie and Mallory finish putting the final touches on their outfits before walking to face each other. Disheveled bouquets are scattered across the black room, possibly a metaphor for the chaos amongst all the beauty of the perfect family and the two women.
The dialogue between Kimmie and Mallory, with its back-and-forth style and contrasting colors, demonstrates their deepening conflict. The two speak about struggles, heartaches, and lies all leading to this new season, and share an intense face-off before the teaser cuts to the Netflix logo.
While only Williams and Stewart are featured in the clip, Netflix has confirmed the return of actors Taylor Polidore Williams, Crystle Stewart, Amber Reign Smith, Ricco Ross, Debbi Morgan, Richard Lawson, Steven G. Norfleet, Julian Horton, Terrell Carter, Shannon Wallace, Bryan Tanaka, Joy Rovaris, Xavier Smalls, Charles Malik Whitfield, Tamera “Tee” Kissen, Ursula O. Robinson, Ashley Versher, George Middlebrook, and Ts Madison.
Although Netflix announced the show’s return, there are currently no details about its release date. Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
