Ten dead animals found in Long Island hoarder home unfit for human occupancy

A Long Island woman was cuffed after police discovered 10 dead pets, 20 other mistreated ones and hardcore drugs throughout the hoarder’s feces-filled home that made officers’ eyes sting.

When entering the squalor Saturday of Kings Park resident Cazandra Nucci, 42, officers from the Suffolk County SPCA found nine dead sugar glider possums and a snake — as smells of urine and fecal matter “made personnel cough and gag upon entry and stung their eyes,” according to the organization.

Prompted by a search warrant, the task force additionally discovered 11 alive but mistreated sugar gliders and nine cats.

The animals were living in six feet of garbage alongside crack cocaine, MDMA and “dozens of apparent drug paraphernalia” in the overcrowded residence.

“The conditions inside were so extreme that personnel had to crawl over the piles of debris inside,” according to the SPCA.

Nucci is due in Islip court on Feb. 28 and faces animal cruelty, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

Since her Feb. 8 arrest, the home has been deemed unfit for human occupancy.

The rescued animals will be put up for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter.
