Amanda Knox says she was grilled by cops at Seattle airport
Amanda Knox was stopped by law enforcement at the airport, where officials seemed more curious about her past than her passport.
Knox says she was grilled by cops before boarding a flight from Seattle to Ireland to promote her new memoir about life after wrongful imprisonment.
The 37-year-old, who was cleared in 2015 by Italyâs highest court of the infamous murder of her British roommate Meredith Kercher, detailed the awkward interrogation in a now-viral thread on X Wednesday.
ââWhy are you traveling?â âWhatâs your book about?â âHow long were you in prison?ââ she recalled being asked.
Then came the kicker: ââWhat did you do to end up in prison?ââ â to which Knox replied, ââActually, I didnât do it.ââ
One officer even remarked, âYou probably donât like police that much.â Her answer: âThey make me uncomfortable.â
Knox, who now writes and hosts a podcast, said she told them her book is titled âFree: My Search for Meaningâ â a memoir about reintegrating into society after spending four years in an Italian prison.
Her interrogation ended on a softer note in Dublin, where a customs officer simply said, âGood luck.â
While Knox did not specify where the interrogation occurred, the Post reached out to the only local airport â SeattleâTacoma International â for a response.
Knoxâs appearance on Irelandâs The Late Late Show touched on her unusual relationship with former prosecutor Giuliano Mignini â the man who once accused her of a sex-fueled murder. âHe admitted he could have been wrong,â she told host Patrick Kielty.
In January, Italyâs top court re-convicted Knox of slander for wrongfully accusing her former boss, Patrick Lumumba, of murdering Kercher.
Some X users opined they were âsurprisedâ Knox would ever leave the states again after her years of legal tumult.
âIâve been back to ItalyâŠâ she told one user.
The Post did not immediately receive a response from Knox.
