‘American Idol’ alum Doug Kiker hospitalized days before death after concerned passerby called 911 over his appearance

“American Idol” alum Doug Kiker sparked concern for his health and safety when a worried good Samaritan saw the singer looking unwell on a Denver street before his death.

The passerby noticed Kiker – known as “The Singing Garbage Man” on the competition program – and called 911 when they suspected he may have been experiencing a drug overdose, according to TMZ.

Kiker died on Monday at age 32, his sister, Angela Evans, confirmed in a touching Facebook post.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of my brother Douglas Kiker he was sooo loved and will be missed by so many! Your singing with the Angel’s now Bubba Please pray for our family as we go threw this very difficult time.”

The Denver Medical Examiner’s Office told The Post that the “the cause and manner” surrounding Kiker’s death are “pending investigation.”

TMZ cited sources saying that drugs allegedly caused the Alabama native to have a heart attack and EMS transported him to Denver Health Medical Center.

The performer was in the hospital for five days until he died.

A GoFundMe page set up by his family to help with funeral expenses has already surpassed its goal of $4,500.

His ex-fiancée, Valerie Cook, told TMZ she’s upset that her kids lost their father.

When judge Lionel Richie asked what kind of performing experience he had, the trashman responded, “I don’t have any,” so they had Ryan Seacrest take him on the street to warm up in front of a crowd.

During the audition, Luke Bryan played piano while Kiker sang the Rascal Flatts hit “Bless the Broken Road,” which made Katy Perry tear up.

“I want us all to know, you know, you’re a hell of a man,” Richie said as he handed him the Golden Ticket and all the judges announced, “You’re going to Hollywood.”

Kiker made it to Hollywood but didn’t make it past that round.

His last song on the show was Marvin Gaye’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
