Barbara Bush Calls Out Jenna Bush Hager On ‘Today’ For Throwing A Birthday Party Without Her: “Word Gets Out”
It’s family week on Today With Jenna & Friends which means some Bush family drama is surely going to come up this week for host Jenna Bush Hager.
The Today host already got called out by her twin sister, Barbara Bush, who guest hosted Monday’s episode. The sisters were answering viewers’ questions on the show and offering advice when they got one that admittedly hit “a little close to home,” according to Jenna.
One viewer wrote in asking how she should tell her twin sister that she would like to throw a birthday party for herself for the very first time after having celebrated every birthday together since they were born.
Barbara used this as an opportunity to call her sister out for doing the same, but without telling her about the party.
“We’re twins also and my sissy had a party herself and if she had told me about it, I would have been very supportive,” Barbara said.
Jenna pointed out that, in her defense, Barbara was pregnant and about to give birth at the time. “OK, but you had a baby and the baby was supposed to come right around the time the party happened,” she said. “I didn’t want to stir your mind with thoughts as petty as [this].”
Barbara implied that she had to hear about the party through the grapevine. “Well, when you have a lot of the same friends word gets out,” she told Jenna before addressing the viewer, “So, I would say for this sister, treat your sister like a friend, and you say, ‘I love you, I’m thinking of having my own party. I’d love for you to come and let’s celebrate me.’”
The sisters were happy to settle the issue once and for all, though Jenna joked that her sister secretly submitted the question herself.
“I did, I wrote it under an alias. It worked some things out,” Barbara teased.
Jenna’s twin sister will be back to host tomorrow (March 25), after which the Today host will be joined by their cousins, Wendy Stapleton and Sam Bush Leblond, on Wednesday (March 26).
This epic week on Today will culminate with the most exciting guest host yet: Jenna’s husband, Henry Hager. She teased that her husband is going to be coming with plenty of ideas of his own.
“I think it’s gonna be slightly wild,” she said.
Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
