LIRR service on Oyster Bay branch suspended due to brush fire, MTA says

Long Island Rail Road service is suspended on the Oyster Bay branch line because of a brush fire near the tracks east of Roslyn, the MTA said Friday night.
While fire officials respond to the blaze, the 4:49 p.m. train from Jamaica to Oyster Bay was being delayed at Albertson, the agency said.
The 5:51 p.m. train from Jamaica to Oyster Bay was being held prior to departure, as was the westbound 6:04 p.m. train from Oyster Bay to Jamaica, the MTA said.
A Nassau police spokesman said a house fire near Mimosa Drive and Harbor Hill Road in East Hills, potentially sparked by loose wires, ignited some leaves shortly after 5 p.m. The fire then spread to near the LIRR tracks, officials said. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
LIRR customers are advised to use alternate branches, including the Port Jefferson and the Port Washington lies, or seek other means of travel.
