Browns announce development partner, release new renderings for Brook Park stadium district

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The owners of the Cleveland Browns announced Tuesday morning they’ve partnered with Lincoln Property Company, a global real estate firm out of Dallas, on the mixed-use entertainment district in Brook Park where a new enclosed football stadium has been proposed. New renderings of what the area could look like were also released.

The 176-acre mixed-use entertainment district, designed by architecture firm HKS, would be developed over several phases to ultimately include retail areas, hotels, apartments, and office space. Phase one of the development is aimed to be completed, along with the proposed stadium, in 2029.

“The economic impact that this entire project will bring to Northeast Ohio is unmatched – the mixed-use development alone is expected to generate $1.2 billion annually and create more than 3,300 permanent jobs for the region. Northeast Ohio deserves a vibrant development like this, which will engage residents and visitors alike,” said Peter Kelly, EVP of Lincoln’s Midwest operations, quoted in a press release.

The Browns have been taking steps toward building an enclosed stadium on the site near the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in Brook Park. It’s a move that’s garnered backlash from fans and the city, and has spurred lawsuits.

The proposed stadium would hold 67,000 seats. Along with being the Browns’ home field, it would also be a venue for concerts, sports tournaments and events, and conferences, a release from the team said.

“The most important component of any successful mixed-use project is the anchor. The new enclosed stadium will bring year-round events to the surrounding district, activating this region in a way that has never been feasible before,” said David Binswanger, Co-CEO of Lincoln, quoted in a press release.

Lincoln Property Company’s previous projects include The Star, a landmark development in Texas that serves as the headquarters and training center for the Dallas Cowboys, along with large-scale developments in downtown Charlotte, San Antonio, and Salt Lake City.

The city of Cleveland released the following statement:
