Security guard knifed by shoplifter at Albertsons supermarket in West El Paso
A suspected shoplifter was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly using a knife to assault a security guard during a theft attempt at a West El Paso supermarket.

The aggravated robbery occurred at 12:14 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Albertsons store at 7022 N. Mesa St., next to Resler Drive, El Paso police said.

An El Paso police media statement said the case was still being investigated and further details were not immediately available.
Channel 7-KVIA reported security was attempting to stop the shoplifter when the shoplifter cut the guard with a knife. One person was taken by ambulance to a hospital with minor injuries. It was unclear if the person transported was the guard or the assailant.
