Canadian DJ booted from Miami restaurant over Brad Pitt-inspired t-shirt
A man was denied entry to a restaurant during an outing with his fiancee after the doorman claimed his outfit was inappropriate.
Canadian DJ Andrew Fedyk, one half of the electronic music duo Loud Luxury, found himself at the center of controversy during a recent outing in Miami with his influencer partner, Madeleine White, this week.
White shared the hilarious moment with her 4.8 million followers, explaining that her fiance was rejected for wearing a shirt featuring a niche reference to a Brad Pitt meme.
The shirt in question features the phrase âNeed Money for Porsche,â a nod to a famous image of Brad Pitt sporting a similar tee.
However, it remains unclear whether Pitt actually wore the shirt or if it was a marketing tactic by fashion companies to superimpose it onto celebrities.
Photos of Ashton Kutcher and Robert Downey Jr. wearing it have also circulated online for years.
While itâs often used as a meme and commentary on celebrity wealth, it appears the restaurant staff didnât get the joke, mistaking Fedykâs shirt for a genuine plea.
âSo we just got rejected from our dinner reservation in Miami because of what Andrewâs wearing, and I just have to show you,â she narrated in the video while standing on the footpath outside the venue.
âI donât think they get your reference,â she laughed. âThey think heâs actually begging people for moneyâ.
She claimed it was the first time theyâve ever been rejected from a dinner reservation.
âWhat do you know about Brad Pitt?â Fedyk joked, staring down the camera.
Despite the initial setback, he reportedly turned the shirt inside out, allowing the couple to enter the restaurant and enjoy their evening.
Itâs not the first time the muso has worn a provocative shirt.
On his Instagram, where he has nearly 50k followers, heâs seen posing with tops saying things like âForget milk, got beer?â at Disneyland and âBanned from Erewhonâ â an expensive LA grocery store.
Commenters weighed in on the situation, with one saying it was âICONICâ.
âThis makes it 10 times better that heâs Loud Luxury,â said another.
However, others suggested he wasnât kicked out for the slogan, but rather his casual outfit.
âNo, they donât think heâs begging for money,â stated one. âItâs just a ridiculous thing to wear to dinnerâ.
âPoor outfit,â said another. âHave some standardsâ.
âItâs probably not what the shirt says â a lot of restaurants in Miami donât let guys wear T-shirts,â pointed out another.
âBeing engaged to a fashion influencer, he should know better,â a third wrote.
White he eventually responded, admitting, âI think we underestimated the Miami vibesâ.
Many upscale restaurants in Miami are notorious for having strict dress codes.
They often require diners to adhere to a smart casual or formal dress code, which typically means no casual clothing like thongs, tank tops, or graphic T-shirts.
One popular restaurant, Mila, located on Miami Beach, is known for having strict conditions of entry, which, according to its website, are intended to âprovide a sophisticated experience for allâ.
âFor dinner service, we ask that guests avoid shorts, caps, sportswear, beachwear, flip-flops, visibly revealing clothing, slides, and celebratory accessories such as crowns or veils,â it reads.
âGentlemen, we ask you to refrain from wearing T-shirts, sleeveless shirts, shorts, open-toed shoes, and excessively bold jewelry. Long jeans are permitted when worn smartly with closed-toe shoes and a collared shirt. This dress code extends to children as well.â
Many commenters speculated that this incident occurred at Mila, although this has not been confirmed.
