Cleveland school bus filled with students bursts into flames during morning route

A Cleveland school bus became engulfed in flames during its morning route on Thursday, officials said.

The Cleveland Heights Fire Department said no injuries were reported, giving credit to the bus driver’s fast response to the growing flames.

“The bus driver acted quickly and got all of the students off the bus and to safety,” the department said in a statement.

The bus had picked up multiple children and was headed to Monticello Middle School in Cleveland, officials said.

After the students were rushed from the bus, a different district vehicle responded to the scene to take the children to school. Firefighters also responded, with the department touting that the fire was “quickly brought under control.”

According to officials, the fire broke out when the bus was on the corner of Cambridge and Northhampton in the Cleveland area.

Photos released by the Cleveland Heights Fire Department show the smoke billowing from the school bus, with red flames bursting from the windows of the vehicle.
