Travis Kelce reveals Taylor Swift’s stance on him retiring from NFL: ‘I’ll reevaluate it’
Travis Kelce revealed his girlfriend Taylor Swift has been encouraging him to continue showing up and showing out on the field as he clarified her stance on his potential retirement from the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, was asked about the 14-time Grammy winnerâs thoughts on his career as he nears the end of his 12th season during Wednesdayâs episode of âThe Stephen A. Smith Show.â
âSheâs fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game,â Kelce said.
The 3-time Super Bowl champ added that the âFortnightâ hitmaker âloves comingâ to his games, and enjoys âcheeringâ for him at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
âI got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams,â he said.
Swift attended 13 Chiefs games during the 2023 season after her relationship with the athlete became public.
The âCruel Summerâ singer was no stranger to Arrowhead Stadium in 2024, having attended several Chiefs home games with friends and family this season.
Kelce briefly touched on how he feels about retirement, saying his opinion on hanging up his cleats for good âchanges every single day.â
âI love everything that Iâm doing ⊠but at the end of the day, Iâm not having that extreme success on the field,â Kelce said about the Chiefsâ current season.
âIâm excited for these next couple of games ⊠to finish this season off. Iâll reevaluate it like I always do [and] Iâll probably tell myself how much I love this thing and Iâll come back next year.â
âItâs just something that you have to keep into perspective and I never want to get to the point where Iâm not helping this team win or Iâm hurting this team more than Iâm helping this team,â he added.
The âNew Heightsâ podcaster said fans can expect to see him âin Chiefs uniformâ as long as heâs playing âgood football.â
Speaking in September, Kelce said he was âstruggling in terms of stats,â however admitted that his team still managed to find âways to win games.â
âWeâre not playing our best football,â Kelce said at the time, adding that he has ânot really [received] a lot of opportunitiesâ to make plays.
Kelce caught three touchdowns in 2024 â falling one shy of last yearâs mark and tallied 823 yards. He recorded 984 yards last season.
Still, the Chiefs have been chugging along and now boast a 15-2 record.
They clinched a bye during last weekâs Wild Card round and are set to face the Houston Texans on Saturday.
Kelceâs team, which is chasing its third straight Super Bowl win, topped Houston in Week 16 of the regular season, 27-19.
The Texans defeated the Chargers last week in their wild-card clash, 32-12.
The winner of Saturdayâs Chiefs-Texans matchup will face the winner of Ravens-Bills, which gets underway Sunday night.
Swift, for her part, is enjoying some much-deserved downtime following the conclusion of her sold-out Eras Tour in December.
