EPPD identifies man killed in crash in far East El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department has identified the man who died in a crash on New Year’s Day in far East El Paso.

According to police, just before 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, D Aundre Kahlil Malik Laffoon, 27, was traveling on Loop 375 and Mile Marker 42 (Vista Del Sol) at “a high rate of speed.”
Laffoon’s vehicle struck the rear of another vehicle traveling on Loop 375 and lost control of his car, police said.
According to police, Laffoon veered off the roadway, rolled over and was ejected out of the vehicle.
A third vehicle that was traveling north on Joe Battle struck Laffoon, police said.
“A contributing factor in the collision is speed and pedestrian in the roadway,” police said.
The investigation is still ongoing.
This is the 1st traffic fatality of 2025, compared to 1 at the same time in 2024.
