Fatal shooting at Sacramento church leaves woman dead
(FOX40.COM) — A woman is dead after a shooting in the parking lot of a Sacramento church Friday evening.
Around 5:45 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to St. Luke’s Lutheran church on the 7500 Block of Center Parkway for reports of a shooting. At the scene, officers found a woman with at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This evening, our neighborhood suffered a terrible tragedy. There was a shooting in the parking lot of St. Luke’s, ending the life of a woman who came here seeking comfort and support,” St. Luke’s Lutheran Church said in a statement.
“We pray for her family and friends. We pray for the communities she was a part of, who will feel her absence. We pray for St. Luke’s and the neighborhood that holds us, that we may see the tragedy before us all and come together to find healing in community.”

SPD said John Binion, 64, of Sacramento, turned himself into the Sacramento County Main Jail. Investigators interviewed Binion and subsequently booked him into jail on homicide-related charges.
The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
