ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis community is mourning the loss of Brian McKenna, a former sportscaster who was struck and killed in an overnight pedestrian crash early Saturday morning.
McKenna was a former radio host on KFNS 590 The Fan and a well-known community member of the St. Louis Hills neighborhood. He died at the age of 61.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports that McKenna was fatally struck in a pedestrian crash around 1 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Hampton and Nottingham avenues in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood.

McKenna was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Police say the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
JB Bommarito, a close friend in the St. Louis community, shared the following tribute on McKenna via Facebook: “Brian was an incredible person who brought a smile to your face by simply seeing him walk into the room. His charismatic personality was infectious. His positive attitude, toughness, as well as his sense of humor, during his battles to beat cancer was inspiring to everyone that knew him.”
Family and friends also remember McKenna as a man deeply passionate about helping others.
