Frances Tiafoe reveals he took shots with Taylor Swift: ‘This is crazy’
American tennis star Frances Tiafoe dished on getting private invites to hang with NFL power couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
During an appearance on âThe Pivotâ podcast on Tuesday, Tiafoe recalled once being star-struck while taking shots with Swift â as well as spending time in Kansas City with the Chiefs tight end and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
âIâve said it in real time, whoever Iâm with, like, âYo, Iâm out here taking shots with Taylor Swift,â Tiafoe, 26, told former NFL stars Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder, who co-host the podcast. âGranted, I gotta keep it a buck, weâre here on âThe Pivotâ â Iâm a Beyonce guy. But at the moment Iâm like, man, like, this is crazy, sheâs the biggest star out here.
âThen Mahomes and Travis they were like âyo, we gotta have you in [Kansas City]. Them saying that is wild to me and then they rolled out the red carpet for me. Itâs crazy because playing tennis and being able to reach that many people and people want to meet me and hang out and actually do stuff, those are the things, itâs why you do what you do.â
Tiafoe, who didnât share when and where the hangouts took place, also has tennis legend John McEnroe, and Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart in his texting rotation.
The Maryland native has yet to be seen publicly with Swift and Kelce, who took in the 2024 US Open in NYC.
The âCruel Summerâ singer and the three-time Super Bowl champ attended the menâs singles final between American Taylor Fritz and Italian Jannik Sinner â the current world No. 1 â at the US Open on Sept. 8, along with Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes.
Tiafoe was eliminated the day prior after he fell in five sets to Fritz to end his impressive push for the first major title of his career.
Tiafoe went on to say heâs âjust regular dude from Maryland,â who isnât defined by his sport.
âIâve got a lot of interests outside just hitting a tennis ball, and you can feel that,â he said. âI am who I am in every room. Iâm not trying to put on for nobody else.â
Tiafoe added that it didnât hit him how famous he was until he beat Rafael Nadal at the 2022 U.S. Open.
âItâs amazing how it can just change like that. All of a sudden everybody wants to come and watch, people are hitting me, Iâm going to events. It took me a while to take that because I never really saw myself like that. But now Iâve kind of embraced it and itâs helped me for sure.â
Tiafoe is currently No. 17 in the ATP rankings.
He reached the top 10 in singles in 2023.
