Here’s a closer look at how much snow is expected from weekend winter storm in Kansas City

A major winter storm is expected to bring Kansas City its biggest snowfall in recent years.

Kansas City’s Northland will likely see the heaviest snowfall in the in the immediate metro area, with anywhere between 8 to 16 inches of snow expected to fall north of Interstate 70 and U.S. 36 highway across northern Missouri.

While it’s easy to concentrate on the upper estimates in the forecast, snowfall totals will likely be lower in many places.

Kansas City International Airport, for example, has a 95% chance of seeing snowfall totals exceeding 4 inches, dropping to a 75% chance of seeing more than 8 inches of snow, according to the latest data from the weather service. The chance of KCI having more than a foot of snow falls to 42%.
