Howie Roseman undercut his own noble concept — and exposed the true NFL ethos
I figure by now that our world’s hideously twisted values are so seldom expressed without fear of condemnation or even incarceration that it’s tantamount to knockin’ on the gulag’s door to ask for the long-term rates.
Perhaps that’s why the words recently spoken by Eagles GM Howie Roseman, self-made 49-year-old father of four and gatherer of Super Bowl champion personnel, made both noise and news.
Within a podcast, Roseman spoke of his objectives with the Eagles, despite the team’s most uncivil patrons, despite Roger Goodell’s pandering silence as Phillly has been challenged by many teams’ most booze-inspired financial faithful:
“We have some objective things that I can’t even overrule, and they’re ours, but for one — violence against women.”
