Israeli settlers beat up and detain Oscar-winning Palestinian director (Video)

Video shows Israeli settlers beating up Hamdan Ballal, a Palestinian co-director of the Oscar-winning documentary “No Other Land,” before he was detained at an Israeli military base. Basel Adra, another co-director, said that around two dozen masked and armed settlers attacked Ballal’s village in the West Bank. Video also shows activists with the Center for Jewish Nonviolence were also assaulted, as settlers smashed car windows and slashed their tires. The Israeli military said Palestinians threw rocks at Israeli citizens. “This might be their revenge on us for making the movie. It feels like a punishment,” Adra told the Associated Press.
