Jon Hamm Hopes ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ Will Make Waves In His Own Inner Circle: “I Love When Family And Friends In My Life See The Work That I’ve Done And Respond To It”

If you don’t already have an Apple TV+ subscription, Jon Hamm wants you to get one now. That includes you, Jon Hamm’s family and friends.

Sitting down with DECIDER to chat about his new show, Your Friends & Neighbors, the Mad Men alum shared that he is hopeful that the show will shock and surprise everyone who tunes in to check out the “rich people behaving badly” project.

In the new drama series — which also stars Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, and Aimee Carrero — Hamm plays Andrew Cooper, a divorced and disgraced hedge fund manager in the luxurious (fictional) suburb of Westmont Village, New York. After losing his job, Andrew resorts to stealing priceless goods from his neighbors’ homes, which lands him in the middle of a twisted and dark web of secrets and lies.

As for what he hopes his own friends and neighbors have to say about the show, Hamm told Decider he can’t wait to hear what everyone in his life thinks about the dark but silly dramedy. He said the reception is part of what makes the job as fulfilling as it is.

“I hope they say that it made them subscribe to Apple TV+, honestly,” the actor said with a laugh. “I love when family and friends in my life see the work that I’ve done and respond to it. I mean, that’s kind of the real telling thing of what we do.”

Hamm added, “If nobody sees it, then does it really exist? And when a lot of people see it, it means that a lot people like it, and that’s meaningful.

And Apple TV+ is counting on people watching it. Months before the series even debuted on the streaming platform, Apple TV+ gave the Jonathan Tropper-produced show a vote of confidence by renewing Your Friends & Neighbors for Season 2.

Don’t get it confused, though, the Season 2 renewal doesn’t imply that all the drama and chaos sown in Season 1 turns out okay for Andrew and the rest of Westmont Village. Hamm teased a dramatic season ahead after the release of the first two episodes and even more excitement to come when Season 2 releases, hopefully in early 2026.

“The fact that we have a second season might lead you to believe that everything works out for Coop okay,” he shared. “It’s a great honor to be picked up so early in the existence of the show, it says a lot. It’s the first time Apple has really done that. It definitely is a feather in our cap and also a nod to the fact that we completed our assignment in a very compelling way.”

The assignment here is to create a dramatic show that will keep the audience on their toes until the very final moment. And that it does. It’s only going to get wilder in Season 2, Hamm shared, keeping details on where the plot goes in its sophomore season vague.

“I’m excited for other people to see it and see the story that we’ve created,” he shared.

The first two episodes of Your Friends & Neighbors are now streaming on Apple TV+. New episodes release Fridays and the entire first season will be available to stream on May 30.
