Kelly Ripa Admits She “Did Not Think” They Would Make It To ‘Live’s New Studio Today: “I Lost A Lot Of Money To Mark Consuelos”
Live with Kelly and Mark kicked off a milestone this morning — though Kelly Ripa teased that she had her doubts about whether it would take place.
While last week introduced Live viewers to the Robert A. Iger building in downtown NYC, Monday’s episode marked the show’s first in their brand new studio, and Ripa and Mark Consuelos were eager to welcome the live audience to their new digs.
“Wowee!” Ripa exclaimed after she and Consuelos took a seat at their desk.
Meanwhile, Consuelos was quick to compliment the studio’s “sound,” saying, “The sound’s good. It sounds like a stadium.”
After Ripa and Consuelos took the time to praise the show’s production designer, Mike Fagan, as well as his team for their “extraordinary job,” Ripa admitted that she was not so sure that they would make it there today .
“I have to tell you. I lost a lot of money to Mark Consuelos because I did not think that we would be here today,” she teased.
Consuelos quipped, “Pay up!”
Ripa replied, “I know, I owe you a lot of money for sure.”
They continued to praise the studio’s scenery, pointing out the digital “downtown cityscape” featuring the Brooklyn Bridge set up behind them.
Consuelos added, “And if you look closely, the river there — that would be the East River, right? You can see the water rippling.”
Ripa asked, “How did you do that?”
After Live EP Michael Gelman joked that “it’s magic,” the co-hosts highlighted “the one thing [they] took from [their] old studio,” which was their “beloved studio dog” statue.
“I’m glad we brought him with us… Or her, I’m not sure,” Consuelos shared, as he jokingly looked more closely at the dog from his desk.
Ripa conceded, “It’s hard to say.”
