Kelly Ripa Grills Mark Consuelos About Dating A Girl Who Worked At Hooters: “I’m Glad You Lowered Your Expectations All These Years Later”

Kelly Ripa put Mark Consuelos in the hot (chicken) seat on Live with Kelly and Mark on Tuesday.

On the topic of KFC’s new fried chicken-flavored toothpaste — which according to Ripa, has already “sold out” — she asked her husband for his thoughts on the peculiar product.

“What if you kissed me and it smelled like KFC? It was like a KFC kiss?” she teased.

Consuelos revealed, “I did date a girl that worked at Hooters once and she smelled like chicken wings. She smelled like chicken wings a lot.”

While Ripa told Consuelos to “go on,” he refrained from spilling more details, solely saying, “That’s the memory I have.”

“That’s all I’m going to say,” he added.

Ripa insisted that Consuelos could “give [them] more” info, knowingly asking what exactly “attracted” him to this girl.

“Did you get a discount on wings?” she asked.

As the audience chimed in to try and fill in the blanks, Ripa replied, “Let him say it!”

In an effort to change the subject, Consuelos immediately introduced their first guest, Government Cheese star David Oyelowo. Despite laughing along with her husband and co-host, Ripa would not let up so easily.

“Before we get to David Oyelowo, I want to know about what was it that drew you —,” she began, before Consuelos offered up his explanation.

“If you work at a chicken place, you’re going to smell like… it’s hard, that smell, you know. You always smell like whatever restaurant you work in. That’s what you smell like,” he said.

Ripa reiterated, “But what specifically drew you to the Hooters girl?”

Consuelos teased, “The conversations, obviously.”

After Live EP Michael Gelman tried to help Consuelos out by proposing that his ex “was very sweet,” Consuelos echoed that she was “very sweet” and “lovely.”

But someone off-camera also shared Ripa’s doubts, sarcastically saying, “Yeah, that’s it.”

After laughing, Ripa quipped, “I’m glad you lowered your expectations all these years later.”
