Kelly Ripa Reveals “Sensual” SoulCycle Phenomenon That Makes Her Cringe: “I’m Witnessing Something That Should Only Be Behind Closed Doors”

There may be the “Chatty Kathys” and the “Talkative Toms” you want to avoid at the gym, but Kelly Ripa is alerting Live with Kelly and Mark viewers to another breed of gym rat: “Sensual Sallys.”

Mark Consuelos shared a survey of the five most annoying gym habits on Monday’s episode, reminding Ripa of a phrase their friends adopted for certain SoulCycle goers.

“They coined the phrase — but I took it on also — as ‘Sensual Sallys,’” she shared. “These are people that make love to their own image in the mirror while they’re at SoulCycle.”

Ripa explained that the “back wall” at SoulCycle is “all mirrors,” and that she aims to keep that wall out of her sight.

“I try never to be in the position to see the mirror because if I see how awkward I look, I will fall off the bike. And it is a stationary bike,” she continued. “I know that when I exercise, I look extremely awkward. It doesn’t matter how hard I try. I never look cool. I’m not the cool girl at the gym. I look awkward, and I’m comfortable with that.”

However, Ripa returned to the concept of “Sensual Sallys,” going so far as to give her best performance of what they look like while they’re feeling themselves mid-work-out.

“And it is weird for the rest of us,” Ripa noted upon wrapping up her imitation. “We feel like they need to be left alone. Like, do you want to be alone with yourself in this class? Because I feel like I’m witnessing something that should only be behind closed doors. And I don’t want to call him out — Gelman — but….”

Ripa teased the Live EP, who also got a moment to show off his take on the “Sensual Sally” on camera.

“He’s a Sensual Sally,” Ripa joked.
