Lansing City Council to take action against adult club
LANSING, Mich.(WLNS) — City leaders say they’re fed up with the ongoing violence at a local gentleman’s club and are taking action to stop it.
Ryan Kost, president of the Lansing City Council, says Centerfolds, an adult entertainment club in south Lansing, has had a long history of issues and now looking to revoke the business’ cabaret license. Kost says the city attorney has already started the process and that while there have been many issues at the club over the years, this is the first time they’ve tried to revoke Centerfold’s license.
“Centerfolds has had a litany of issues over the last 20 years,” said Kost.
He says the act to revoke the club’s license comes after a recent shooting at the club.
“I think the shooting and the murder was a big red flag for the city,” said Kost.
Last Sunday, 45-year-old Christopher Bonilla Sr. was shot and killed inside the club. In 2016, two people were shot, and in 2013, a 21-year-old man was shot and killed.
Kost says the city attorney is currently collecting information on the club. Then, city leaders will schedule a hearing, after which the city council will vote.
“We just received the city of attorney from the police chief all of the service calls that have been made to that location,” said Kost.
Kost says the city is putting the residents first, to ensure something like this won’t happen again.
“When something like this happens we take it seriously,” says Kost. “We take the safety of the folks in this neighborhood seriously.”
Lansing Police Department says they do not get called to Centerfolds frequently, but when they do respond to calls, officers are made aware of crimes that are happening that are going unreported.
6 News called and left a message to management at Centerfolds, but they haven’t called back.
