Long Beach hit by overnight power outage; city hall, courts closed Monday

The City of Long Beach was struck by an overnight power outage that has forced the closing of City Hall and the courts, officials said.

Long Beach spokesman John McNally said a transformer blew early Monday.

The Long Beach Police Department which operates at City Hall, was only answering emergency calls on Monday.

McNally said PSEG is currently working on the outage. The cause of the outage is still unknown, he said.

According to PSEG Long Island’s outage map, fewer than five customers were affected by an active outage.

PSEG did not immediately respond for comment.
