MAGA Meltdown After Vance Is Booed at Kennedy Center

MAGA figures are fighting back after JD Vance was mercilessly booed at the Kennedy Center Thursday night.

Vance and second lady Usha Vance had arrived at the venue to catch a concert by the National Symphony Orchestra, but it was the boos and jeers that served as a curtain-raiser to Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 2.

Usha, who was recently named by Donald Trump as a board member of the Kennedy Center, and her husband stayed for the duration of the concert, despite the 30-second onslaught.

Special envoy Richard Grenell led the charge, hitting back at the treatment of the vice president and his wife.

Grenell, who Trump put in charge in an acting capacity after firing the Kennedy Center board while naming himself as chairman, has now come out fighting for the Vances.

“The intolerant Left are radicals who can’t even sit in the same room with people that don’t vote like they do,” he wrote Thursday evening, sharing a clip of the scene. “What has happened to today’s Democrats? They are so intolerant.”

Early Friday he once again breached the topic, calling for the center to be made a place “where everyone is welcomed.”

“This video should challenge us all to commit to making the Kennedy Center a place where everyone is welcomed,” he said. “It troubles me to see that so many in the audience appear to be white and intolerant of diverse political views.

“Diversity is our strength. We must do better. We must welcome EVERYONE. We will not allow the Kennedy Center to be an intolerant place.”

Grenell was not the only MAGA figure to speak out against the boos directed at the Vances.

Trump reportedly privately railed against the center’s perceived focus on liberal artists last month. The Wall Street Journal reported that he also displayed confusion as to why his friends were never bestowed with coveted Kennedy Center awards.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said after Trump parachuted himself into the chairman seat last month: “The Kennedy Center learned the hard way that if you go woke, you will go broke.”

It comes after the president used Truth Social to terminate multiple members of the organization’s board, including Chairman David M. Rubenstein, who he said “do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.”
