Man arrested in connection to homicide of 24-year-old Wisconsin woman
MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities have arrested James Barnes-Morris on charges of first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the death of 24-year-old Brooke L. Strattan.
The investigation began on Oct. 3, 2024, when Madison police started searching for Strattan, who was last seen with Barnes-Morris around 7 a.m. in the area of Odana Road and Whitney Way.

A community tip on Oct. 8 led officers to the UW-Arboretum off Monroe Street, where Strattan’s body was discovered in a pond.
Barnes-Morris is confirmed as the last known person with Strattan before her death. The case has been turned over to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office for further proceedings.
