Man hospitalized after car crashes into pond on State Farm’s south campus

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A man was hospitalized early Thursday after his car crashed into a pond at the State Farm Corporate South campus.

According to Bryce Janssen, a spokesman for the Bloomington Police Department, officers were called to the campus at about 4:45 a.m. after the car entered the large retention pond near the intersection of Ireland Grove Road and Arcadia Drive. That’s near the north end of the pond.

The man was found on the bank of the pond, soaking wet,  Janssen said. The car was a “good ways in,” he added.

The city’s fire department did go out to the vehicle, using a boat, to make sure no one else was in the car. There weren’t, Janssen said.

Janssen said the man did not suffer any major injuries but was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. His condition wasn’t immediately known.

The investigation is ongoing and it wasn’t sure if any citations would be issued.
