Suspected devices of mass destruction found at Huntersville man’s home, police say

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Huntersville man is facing a slew of charges after several domestic violence incidents resulted in the discovery of suspected devices of mass destruction inside his home, authorities announced on Friday.

Huntersville Police said on Wednesday, Dec. 4, around 4:15 p.m. they arrested Justin Lloyd Coleman, 42, in the 17000 block of Huntersville Commons Drive.

Authorities said the arrest stemmed from an investigation into domestic violence incidents that occurred in September and November this year.

Following the arrest, a search warrant was executed at Coleman’s home. With the assistance of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Bomb Squad and the ATF; suspected devices of mass destruction, along with several firearms and ammunition were found and seized.

Coleman has been charged with the following:

  • Felony assault by strangulation

  • Felony breaking and entering

  • Felony larceny after breaking and entering

  • Possession of a firearm by a felon

  • Three counts of felony possession of weapons of mass destruction

Coleman is currently being held without bond at the Mecklenburg County Jail. Anyone with further information in this case is asked to call Huntersville Det. Tombaugh at 704-464-5400.
