Michael Strahan Nearly Cries On ‘The View’ While Talking About Daughter Isabella’s Cancer Diagnosis With Teary Sara Haines

Michael Strahan opened up about his daughter’s cancer journey on this morning’s episode of The View, forcing Sara Haines to fight back tears.

Isabella Strahan was only 19 years old when doctors discovered she had a brain tumor larger than a golf ball. Now cancer-free, Isabella is gearing up for the release of her new documentary, Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight to Beat Cancer.

“Isabella’s first brain surgery had her having to relearn how to walk, talk, and even eat on her own. So, she then went through a month of daily radiation, chemotherapy,” Haines said as her voice began to crack.

“The pain of a parent watching your child feel uncomfortable and so few of us deal with this type of pain, how was that for you?” she asked the former NFL player, who exclaimed, “You’re gonna make me cry!”

Michael said he hasn’t watched any of Isabella’s vlogs documenting her journey with cancer, noting that he doesn’t even know if he’ll watch the documentary.

“It’s just too hard for me to watch, to relive it,” he said, before telling Haines, “And I know you know the girls. We did the show together, they’ve come spent time with us,” referring to his time co-hosting GMA3 with Haines from 2018 to 2020.

“It’s like, you’re hopeless, you’re helpless,” Michael continued. “You’re just a father who knows nothing more than to fix what you can for your kids. I can’t fix this. All I can do is sit back and pray that we have the right doctors and that it’s something that can be treated so she can get back to being as normal as possible and get back to her life.”

Haines described his daughter as a “tigress” and praised the upcoming documentary, which will air Feb. 5 on ABC at 10/9c and begin streaming the next day on Hulu and Disney+.

“The strength that has come out of Isabella in watching her face this, for me, I mean, you’re her father, but the things you learn about her resilience and her strength and her fortitude are unbelievable,” Haines said. “This is literally a must-see for everyone.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
