Prosecutors say a newly released audio recording captures Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, impersonating the baseball player in a phone call with a bank, in which he requested a $200,000 car loan. Mizuhara pleaded guilty in 2024 to bank and tax fraud.
