“We see 2,600 new patients a year in Decatur,” Schreeder said. “This is an expansion that will meet our needs based on population growth,”
At the meeting, the Decatur City Council approved a project development agreement with CCI. CCI plans to build a two-story, 50,000-square-foot state-of-the-art healthcare facility off of 6th Avenue in Decatur.
According to the project development agreement, the new facility will have plenty of space for lab work, a large radiation area, a large imaging area for MRIs, and plenty of other space for patient care.
A representative from CCI was not available for an on-camera interview with News 19 on Tuesday. However, they sent a statement saying that remain committed to providing high-quality care.

“As always, our goal is to provide high quality, innovative and compassionate patient care and we are confident this new location will best serve our patients and their caregivers,” The statement said.
Decatur City leaders say it will be a great addition to Decatur.
The facility will be built on an empty lot off of 6th Avenue in Decatur, across from Saputo and next to Julia’s Pools.
“It’s going to give great care for those dealing with cancer in this region,” said Dane Shaw, the Director of Development for the City of Decatur.
Shaw said the healthcare facility could also benefit cancer patients in neighboring cities like Priceville and Hartselle.
“Folks in the area that are dealing with cancer can come to Decatur and get the treatment they need in one place,” he said.
Based on the development agreement, the City of Decatur will pay up to $250,000 towards the project for utility relocation and rebate taxes on construction materials.
“A lot of times we help with infrastructure and utilities on these sort of things,” Shaw told News 19.
The estimated price tag for the facility is around $50 million dollars. The new facility is expected to bring in more physicians and staff to Decatur.
