Rosie O’Donnell leaves the USA for a new life in Ireland

Commack native Rosie O’Donnell is no longer living in the United States, according to a TikTok video she posted Tuesday.

In the video, O’Donnell, who turns 63 next week, said she had moved to Ireland on Jan. 15 with her daughter Dakota, 12.

“It’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say. The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming. And I’m very grateful,” O’Donnell said. 

“I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child. And here we are,” the comedian/talk show host added.

“I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country and when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.”

While not specifically referencing the policies of President Donald Trump’s administration, she said: “It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally as well. The personal is political, as we all know.”

O’Donnell said she’s “in the process” of obtaining citizenship in Ireland, the country of her grandparents.

O’Donnell’s representative confirmed the move and had no additional comment.
