Palm Springs sees partial road closures Saturday due to low visibility

A portion of North Gene Autry Trail, North Indian Canyon Drive and East Vista Chino in Palm Springs were closed on Saturday due to low visibility.
The Palm Springs Police Department issued a road closure alert at 1:53 p.m. for East Vista Chino at the wash between Clubhouse View Drive and city limits due to low visibility.
The Palm Springs Police Department issued an alert at 8:49 a.m. Saturday advising that North Gene Autry Trail at the wash between Salvia Road and East Via Escuela is closed due to low visibility.
Nearly an hour later, the Palm Springs Police Department issued an alert that North Indian Canyon Road at the wash is closed between Sunrise Parkway and Palm Springs Station Road due to low visibility.
There was no information as to when the roads are expected to reopen.
The closure comes as the Coachella Valley is under an air quality alert due to harmful levels of particle pollution from wind-blown dust through Sunday morning, the National Weather Service San Diego said. Meanwhile, Riverside County mountains and the San Gorgonio Pass, including Banning and Desert Hot Springs, are under a wind advisory Saturday that continues through the weekend.
