People Are Nodding Their Heads In Agreement After Luigi Mangione’s Lawyer Called Out Mayor Eric Adams For Joining The Perp Walk
As you likely know, Luigi Mangione, the man suspected of shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is facing several murder charges, including murder as an act of terrorism, using a firearm to commit murder, and stalking.

Well, earlier today, Mangione pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

And what’s more β one of his lawyers, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, used the court appearance to express concern over Mangione’s “right to a fair trial,” saying, “Like every other defendant, he’s entitled to a presumption of innocence.”

“His rights are being violated,” Friedman Agnifilo continued as she pointed to Mangione’s extradition from Pennsylvania to New York last week, where he arrived via helicopter…

And even New York Mayor Eric Adams joined the spectacle.

“He was on display for everyone to see in the biggest staged perp walk I’ve ever seen in my career. It was absolutely unnecessary. He’s been cooperative with law enforcement,” Friedman Agnifilo said, seemingly arguing that the perp walk could sway public opinion ahead of Mangione’s trial.

Then came the line that is now going viral: “And frankly, your honor, the mayor should know more than anyone of the presumption of innocence that he, too, is afforded.”
Yes, Mangione’s lawyer called out Mayor Adams’s appearance at the perp walk as he, himself, is currently facing charges related to bribery and fraud following a federal corruption investigation.

Friedman Agnifilo’s concern was echoed largely online. “It is crazy to get perp walked by a guy under multiple corruption controversies,” one X user wrote.

“Eric Adams joining Mangione’s perp walk while he himself remains under federal indictment for bribery and campaign finance fraud is one of the greatest political bits we’ve seen thus far this century,” another person added.

…but many are also suggesting Mayor Adams may have been using the perp walk to shift attention. “the mayor is most definitely trying to take the heat off himself,” one person said.
Regardless, a large-held belief online centers around the idea that the highly-publicized and attended perp walk has the potential to shift public opinion ahead of the trial. “Luigi’s attorney, is absolutely correct that it prejudices her client ahead of and during any trial,” someone concluded.
