Police: man shot, killed in car in Central Islip; shooter was in same car

A man was shot and killed in his car in Central Islip Saturday night just before midnight by another man inside the car, authorities said Sunday.

Suffolk County patrol officers responded to a call reporting a man shot outside a house on Anne Lane in Central Islip, according to Kevin Beyrer, commanding officer of Suffolk’s homicide section.

Beyrer said police believe the victim, who has not been identified, was sitting in the car and “a person known to him,” who was also in the car, “shot him for unknown reasons.”

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital, Beyrer said.

No arrests have been made; police are investigating, he said.
