Rachel Zegler posts childhood Snow White photo as Disney remake struggles on opening weekend

Rachel Zegler celebrated the opening of her new “Snow White” movie with a throwback photo of herself in the character’s iconic outfit as projections show a sleepy opening for Disney film.

“2004➡️NOW — dreams really do come true,” the actress, 23, captioned the Instagram pic of her toddler self giving a big grin for the camera.

But Zegler’s new take on the 1937 classic doesn’t appear to be wowing at the box office so far.

The Disney movie opened on Friday, raking in a measly $15.5 million domestically, amid widely publicized controversy regarding its two main stars.

The live-action remake is projected to bring in $45 million this weekend — a slow start for the famous tale, potentially making it one of Disney’s slowest opening weekends to date.

Zegler has notably made headlines over the last week for her criticism of the Disney classic as well as recent reports that she and Gal Gadot, who plays the evil witch in the movie, clashed while filming.

A source previously told People that the two stars were “not friends” and clashed over their “different political views.”

Zegler doubled down on her love for the Disney princess earlier this week, emphasizing what an “honor” it was to portray the character after she previously called the original film “weird.”

“It was the honor of a lifetime. I think every young person dreams about a phone call like that,” she said on Thursday’s episode of “Good Morning America.” “This one is certainly extra special as a huge Disney fan.”

Zegler continued praising the film and said, “To get to bring her to life in such a unique way and such a special way, it’s just a beautiful opportunity, and I’m very honored.”

Zegler’s relationship with her co-star Gadot has also been under intense scrutiny during the film’s press tour.

In the “West Side Story” star’s Friday Instagram post, eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice how Gadot was notably absent from the actress’ congratulatory message celebrating the film’s release.

She shared several snaps behind-the-scenes glimpses featuring castmates. However, Gadot, who portrayed the Evil Witch, was not present in the photos.

“We had the greatest crew in the world on this movie,” Zegler captioned her post.

“It cannot be overstated. this photo dump doesn’t even dig into the fun, the magic, and the love that was shared throughout this process. but it’s a start.”
