Road-rage shooting closes portion of I-70 west of downtown Columbus
A shooting during an apparent road-rage incident during morning rush hour along Interstate 70 west of downtown Columbus left one person injured and trafficked backed up for several exits, police said.
A Columbus police dispatcher said a shooting was reported 7:06 a.m. April 15 along the westbound lanes of I-70 near North Hague Avenue.
A 911 caller said the drivers were brake-checking each other before the shooting, the dispatcher said.

One person was transported to Grant Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the dispatcher said.
At 7:45 a.m., the dispatcher said all westbound lanes were shut down approaching the shooting site. A live traffic map maintained by the Ohio Department of Transportation showed significant traffic in the area.

How many road rage shootings in Columbus this year?
As of April 14, the Columbus police had investigated five shootings related to road rage in 2025, according to a report by the Columbus Division of Police Felony Assault Unit.
The unit had investigated 189 felony assaults and 122 shootings by that date. Another 47 shootings stemmed from arguments or disputes, and 10 were related to robberies, according to the report.
The Homicide Unit reported no deaths related to road-rage incidents in another April 14 report.
