Rob Lowe blasts LA officials over lost film and TV production: ‘Everybody should be fired’
Rob’s mad as hell, and he’s not gonna take it anymore.
A charged-up Rob Lowe took aim at Los Angeles officials on his podcast this month over all the film and television production that has been lost to other, more financially competitive cities.
Guns-a-blazin’, the enraged “West Wing” actor said “everybody should be fired.”
Other states, and even foreign counties, offer more encouragement to bring Hollywood projects there instead of California, he insisted.
“There are no tax credits [in California], so like, all those other places are offering 40% — 40%. And then on top of that, there’s other stuff that they do,” Lowe, 61, said to Adam Scott on “Literally!”
“And then, that’s not even talking about union stuff. It’s just tax, economics of it all, so it’s criminal what California and LA have let happen — it’s criminal. Everybody should be fired.”
The tirade ensued after Lowe reveled he shoots his Fox program “The Floor” in Dublin.
“Why do I shoot my American game show ‘The Floor’ in Ireland?,” the podcast host asked.
“It’s cheaper to bring in 100 people to Ireland than to walk across the lot at Fox.”
“Do you think if we shot ‘Parks’ right now, we’d be in Budapest?,” asked his old “Parks and Recreation” co-star Scott, 51, who’s now the star of “Severance.”
“One hundred percent, we would be,” replied Lowe.
“It’s so weird,” added Scott. “Nothing shoots in Los Angeles.”
Doubling down, Lowe chimed in: “Nothing!”
“The Floor” is a trivia show featuring American contestants head-to-head duels, and the winner takes home $250,000 — not euros. It’s been on the air for three seasons.
This month, the California Film Commission approved 51 films for tax incentives.
One state that dreams of a booming industry is Texas, actor Dennis Quaid told The Post.
“We really want to be the new Hollywood, and also bring back crew people that have to leave to go work in Oklahoma or Georgia or Mexico. People are there,” the “Parent Trap” star said last month. “It’s just really providing the infrastructure and the means to do this to compete.”
