See how much rain fell across the Mid-South
Rain dominated the Mid-South over the last four days, and Saturday’s deluge left roads across Shelby County undrivable.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, Memphis International Airport recorded 5.47 inches of rainfall Saturday. That, NWS Memphis said, was “the wettest day ever recorded in April in Memphis.”
The records NWS has date back to 1872.
Jonesboro, Arkansas β which saw 5.06 inches of rainfall Saturday β also recorded its wettest day in April. Those records date back to 1893.
Between Wednesday and Sunday, NWS Memphis recorded 14.07 inches of rain in East Memphis. Here’s what it recorded across the Mid-South during that time period:

Flooding has not been limited to the roads. The Wolf River β specifically a portion of it in Germantown β crested at 25.29 feet Sunday morning. NWS Memphis said this is the fourth-highest river level it had recorded. The fields near the Agricenter were flooded, a picture posted by the weather service showed.
The highest that portion of the Wolf River has been recorded at was 27.98 feet on March 14, 1975, NWS Memphis said.
