SpaceX Friday the 13th launch today from Cape Canaveral to deliver Space Force satellite

SpaceX, undeterred by superstition, is set for a Friday the 13th launch day!

A National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency navigational advisory indicates a four-hour launch window tonight, extending from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. ET. The launch will be from Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) which is located just south of Kennedy Space Center.

While SpaceX has yet to confirm, the Space Coast Office of Tourism lists this launch as GPSIII SV10. This mission will be a GPSIII satellite built by Lockheed Martin for the US Space Force’s Global Positioning System.

According to the Space Force’s 45th Weather Squadron, which refers to this mission as RRT-1, there is a 70% chance of favorable conditions during this launch window.
