Standoff happens Tuesday morning in Fruita
FRUITA, Colo. (KREX) – The Mesa County Sheriff’s SWAT team – along with the Fruita Police Department – are currently in the 1400 block of Gemini Circle where a suspect barricaded inside a residence.
According to our reporter on the scene, one individual is inside the home. Law enforcement has been there since around 8:30 a.m.
Our reporter said he heard a large explosion noise around 11:02 a.m. followed by another loud bang a couple minutes later. SWAT members have donned gas masks, as last reported.
Law enforcement announced the suspect has been arrested and the hostage was safely release. The area was secured around noon.
The Fruita Police Department asked the community to stay away from the area until a resolution has been made.
